May Club Member Interview

What is your name, star sign and job title?
Leah Wood, Gemini, English Literature Student

What does your job involve?
As a Literature student I am required to write, research and, the best part, read and analyse incredibly amazing texts – quite a few of which have Western Australian authors.

Do you have a book you often refer to? If so, why?
As a Literature student that is full-time book obsessed - it is hard to choose just one (sorry).  My favourite books are Dracula by Bram Stoker or Frankenstein by Mary Shelley (I love Gothics and 18th & 19th Century Literature), and anything by Haruki Murakami (He is perfect to read after the semester when I wish to escape to a place that has Japanese landscapes, great food and surreal storylines)

What is your fail-safe recipe for cooking at home?
I love cooking Indian vegetarian curry!

Do you have a favourite day trip you’d recommend to us?
Any of the hiking trails that exist in the surrounding hills and historic towns or Moore River.

What was the last online article that interested you?
An article on the Calabrese mafia that exists in Australia – so fascinating! Unfortunately, I have so many saved articles on Facebook but have little to no time to read any of them.

Whom do you admire?
My close friends: these women are incredibly strong, selfless and kind. They continually inspire me, and I don’t know what I would do without them; I cannot thank them enough.

Where have you enjoyed the best food of your life?
Paris (Cliché, I know), but seriously, the bread, the pastries, the cheese and the wine! Everything just feels, and tastes, indulgent

Who makes your favourite coffee?
My partner Anton, Good Things in Mosman Park and Best Wishes in Fremantle
